Action Profiling

The Action Profile® Framework is a model used to describe individual and managerial thinking, related to decision-making. It is a systematic way of describing our thinking and predictable action.

About

The Action Profile® system is based on the study of both individual and group thinking. Analysing the way that you currently approach any problem or decision gives insights that will have immediate positive impacts.

Background

The Action Profile® has a long history beginning with the brilliant work of Rudolph Laban from the 1940s, with his extraordinary insights into the nature of human movement and his development of methods for recording it.

Applying

The Action Profile® is a unique way to measure an individual’s decision-making process. The results can be used to ensure teams of people work together with natural co-operation, transparent communication, and mutual trust.

What is the Action Profile®?

The Action Profile® is a unique way to measure an individual’s decision-making process. The results can be used to ensure teams of people work together with natural co-operation, transparent communication, and mutual trust.

The Action Profile is:

  • free from race, gender or cultural bias
  • hard wired
  • unchanging and consistent over life
  • unconscious

Due to the unique method of measuring a profile which is based on non-verbal data and the fact that the profile reflects core personality the Action Profile® method makes no distinctions because of a person’s gender, race, or cultural background.

As unique to each person as her/his fingerprints the profile pattern is hard wired and once established in late teens or early twenties it is relatively unchanging. We may flex our process in order to cope with certain situations or tasks but over time our natural pattern will assert itself and stay mostly the same throughout our adult lives.

The Action Profile® pattern is relatively unconscious until a person is informed or alerted to its function and significance in how they behave. Then we begin to notice how it affects what we do and how we do it in every aspect of our lives - in work, recreation, family and relationships.

We all find that some people do seemingly inexplicable things and others are difficult or frustrating to work with. A person who always researches an issue thoroughly before reaching a conclusion for example might be critical of someone who seems immediately certain and rushes into action with seemingly very little information. Conversely the go getting rapid action taker is perplexed and frustrated by the cautious and apparently uncertain approach of the thorough researcher. The Action Profile® explains the exact nature of such differences in the context of the overall decision making process. It shows us how to overcome difficulties and unhelpful judgements arising from large, subtle and even complex differences in approach. In addition it shows us how to use these differences to everyone’s advantage.
